Pendulum Swing Words & Music by John Shough The tide swings left, the tide swings right From sunup in the morning till the full moon of the night And when the tide swings left, tide swings right What goes around comes around Bark or be it bite A fever with a mind of its own That feels what it wants to and steals what it wants to Take it or you leave it alone Like a dog with a tasty bone Time to get up, time to get down Time to spin to win and then try and stay around Cause what the left sleeves got and the right sleeves got Will always tell the story, when every things forgot Marches to a beat of its own That seeks what it wants to and keeps what it wants to Forever or just one day At home at work or play A fever with a mind of its own That feels what it wants to and steals what it wants to Take it or you leave it alone Like a dog with a tasty bone Try to steer clear of the rearview mirror An image might be larger than initially appears From the left to the middle To the middle to the right The pendulum swings every day and every night A fever with a mind of its own That takes what it wants to and fakes what it wants to Together or you face it alone Life in the danger zone

Under the Moon Words & Music by John Shough Fully awake, no time to stop for plunder Soon I will travel under stars Under the Moon, under the Sky in June Oh by the way, I saw a million lifetimes Another million lifelines, in the palm of your hand And so I say, when the darkness, it settles in And the trail is cold and dead, remember today Under the Moon, under the Sky in June I can’t say what you will find in store But that way I left just closed the door Under the Moon, under the June before I can’t say what you will find in store But that way I left just closed the door Under the Sky before Under the Moon before... Under the Sky before... Under the June before...

Oh No 02:52
Oh No Words & Music by John Shough Oh No The hammer of truth comes down Breaking up my stony mind See the sparks flying out A pillar of sun shines down Breaking through my cloudy eyes Take out the trash at 3AM Was alright, then it happened again Was alright, and dammit it happened again Oh No A river of lies washes down Stinking up my proud life I'm in touch with something I knew once was alright Was alright, then it happened again Was alright, and dammit, it happened again Oh No Oh Yea,

Beggar and Thief Words & Music by John Shough Once in a Blue Moon I ever dare recall it all Showdowns at high noon Where no one ever won at all A time to think or you might blink Nothing in life’s for free Chapter in a story of a beggar and a thief A spin in the ditch Under haloed stars in fall A gallery involved And a never ending casting call A time to see, or you might be Soiled with sorrow and grief Chapter in a story of a beggar and a thief So long, So long Hello star-Shine, Joy-full tidings Footloose and fancy free Chapter in a story of a beggar and a thief So long, So long Hello star-Shine, Joy-full tidings So long, So long Sorrow-minstrels, such a good life Nothing, it comes for free Chapter in a story of a beggar and a thief

Oh my So Long Gone Words & Music by John Shough The sun it shone upon the road today And so it goes like birds they fly away Apart from me, but always still a part of me Instilled inside, its forever, you are still inside We roll this way on and on and on Been gone so long and oh my so long gone Apart from me, but always still a part of me Instilled inside, its forever, you are still inside Been gone so long and oh my so long gone We roll this way on and on and on The sun it shone upon the road today And so it goes like birds we fly away We roll this way on and on and on Been gone so long and oh my so long gone

Tumble Sky 04:30
Tumble sky Words & Music by John Shough Headed out, on a long trip Cross the mountains, and the prairies, and the oceans And god only knows The sky is dark, the clouds start to spin It’s a tumbling sky, and you don’t know why But you got to fly, come on come on come on Yea we got to go, or we’ll never know Well tell me, where does it end It looked like fair weather And all clear ahead Tales of blood and treasure And fair-weathered friends The road to peace, is traveled least, when starting again It’s a tumbling sky, and you don’t know why But you got to fly, come on come on come on There’s a bird’s-eye-view, right in front of you Please you be there, Please you be there Never return, I may never return… Please you be there I will be there Will you be there

Helping Hands Words & Music by John Shough Just a day, a day in a life Just a way, just a way that’s right When its real, it’s really out of sight Do you feel, do you feel alright Do you know, know who to call Any day, any time at all In life, you only can do what you can What’s mine, can also be yours if you lend, helping hands There’s no, no need to wish on a star Just go, and before you know there you are, helping hands When its real, it’s really out of sight Do you feel, do you feel alright… In life, you only can do what you can What’s mine, can also be yours if you lend, helping hands There’s no, no need to wish on a star Just go, and before you know there you are, helping hands… When its real, it’s really out of sight Do you feel, do you feel alright…

To the Bone 04:24
To the Bone Words & Music by John Shough There were lights in the dark And dogs that would bark On my way home There was a vacuum of space, an empty place As I would go The shadows casted on, the short and the long On, on and on It happened every night, until the light On, on and on To the bone, to the bone… Words & Music by John Shough How I would try when the leaves were dry In the smell of the fall I would say goodbye, and I would lie I didn’t need you at all It happened every night, until the light On, on and on The shadows casted on, the short and the long On, on and on To the bone, to the bone… I’ve said goodbye, and time just flies On and on I recall, the smell of the fall, when I was young It happens every night, until the light On and on That day I said goodbye, I stood there and lied I didn’t need you in life To the bone, to the bone… There were lights in the dark And dogs that would bark On my way home There was a vacuum of space, an empty place As I would go How I would try when the leaves were dry In the smell of the fall I would say goodbye, and I would lie I didn’t need you at all How I would lie…

Bleeding You 03:48
Bleeding You Words & Music by John Shough Slow-motion tears, in the rear-view mirror From the sum of fears, just drops in the ocean Oh what a lucky day, for you are getting your way Nothing to do or to say I’m bleeding you… Words & Music by John Shough The calm seems strange, in the hurricane If it’s all the same it must be alright Out of the haze a new day, a search and search of a way Something to do or to say I’m bleeding you… It’s clear to all but me, how I’m bleeding you So near to falling free, and breaking through So the fever burns And the cycle turns It’s the failing words Which cut like a knife So I will try a new way Something to do or to say Oh what a beautiful day Falling free, Falling free

about

Under the Moon is the Spring-20 release from the John Shough Solstice Project. The subtle theme of "As we are affected, so shall we affect." is explored as well as owning up to the fact that we never return from a journey the same as we left. More coming in late June with 'Mystery School."
